Shopify is a ready-made eCommerce platform. You simply need to customize, drag and drop, upload products, images, descriptions, etc and your store is ready. Additionally, you get payment gateways, security, cart & transaction, customer service options, etc with Shopify. Moreover, you can have multiple stores in Shopify.

However, if you have enough coding knowledge, a skill that you can develop your own website then you can definitely go for your own. At least you are not going to pay a third party fee whenever a user makes payment on your store.
