Shopify is a ready-made eCommerce platform. You simply need to customize, drag and drop, upload products, images, descriptions, etc and your store is ready. Additionally, you get payment gateways, security, cart & transaction, customer service options, etc with Shopify. Moreover, you can have multiple stores in Shopify. Further, the shopify web to print allows your customers to customize products directly from your online store.

However, if you have enough coding knowledge, a skill that you can develop your own website then you can definitely go for your own. At least you are not going to pay a third party fee whenever a user makes payment on your store.
